intro

July 28, 2006

This is my first post on my blog...i am mexican american woman married to a libyan...i have 7 children (5 boys and 2 girls) ranging in age (siraj 21, safia 18, sabri 17, anis 15, usama 13, yasin 11 1/2 and jamila 9) ...we live in colorado, usa...all of my children are involved in soccer, they enjoy it and in my own opinion, they do have a talent for playing...i have been to libya in 1990,we were there for 6 months...i loved the country, the people and am fortunate to have wonderful relatives...i can't say that it was easy, but it was fascinating! I am raising my children to be proud of who they are, i speak to them in spanish and english and tried to get my husband to speak to them in arabic, but, he felt that it might be too difficult...when we came back to the u.s. my oldest son was speaking arabic, but my husband felt he might end up being confused, nonetheless i continued speaking to my children in spanish, they don't speak it as well but they do understand it...i am the granddaughter of mexican immigrants and grew up speaking both languages with no problem, my children , i am proud to say are tri-cultural and on top of all that, they are muslim...i would like to go back to libya(my husband is from "sok al joma" in tripoli when we were there in 1990, we had 3 children and now we have 7...financially, its difficult and with my children in competitive soccer well, we're trying to work around their schedules...with my childrens' help i will be able to post pictures ! this is fun!

i'm still trying to get used to all of this,(computer stuff) thank you for writing back...is rhonda american or libyan...after 16 yrs & 7kids, the mind is a little rusty...didn't meet too many americans there, except janel (sistah girl) i already knew, and another friend faiszah who has been there for a month now..she's the one who turned me on to your site...as for going back, i'd love to, i have great family over there, and i really feel the kids should see a different side of life and to see their father's heritage...
